Books I Want to Read in 2025

How I decided what to read this year after setting the goal. To make sure I don't go down just one path, I've made a list of things/areas I value so that book titles can apply to this.

Books I Want to Read in 2025

Reading is of course incredibly important–and I value it as such.

In 2024, I rather embarrassingly didn’t complete any books. And no, I absolutely won’t reveal the number I bought (but yes, it was far more than I read).

I am always so proud of myself to be someone who walks into a bookshop and to find fascination/interest in every section. To be interested is the most powerful tool you can have in your box. But it doesn’t count for much if you can’t convert it.

This year, I’m going all in on the audiobooks, and for the first time, I've actually felt hopeful instead of doom and gloom about reading the books I’d like to in my lifetime (including classics I didn’t think I’d ever get around to).

I’ve set myself a goal of one audiobook a month (I completely intend to smash this by the way, but it’s consistency that’s the key here). And I’m dividing the length by the number in the month. I’ve set myself the goal, but where do I possibly begin when I feel like I'm playing a rather serious game of catchup?!

I want to choose books that make me proud to complete them, and I need to apply some sort of structure to make sure I’m exploring all the different areas of my brain (I've learnt that this approach works especially well for my brain).

So I've come up with a list of areas for books to fall into... and I encourage you to come up with your own, for all of the things/topics that hold meaning to you!

I've set myself the target of reading one book a month!

My list:

  1. A book about anxiety
  2. A book about money (The Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel - 02/25)
  3. A book about spirituality
  4. A book about productivity
  5. A book about queer history
  6. A book that’s politically significant (1984 by George Orwell - 01/25)

  8. A book authored by a psychiatrist
  9. A book authored by an artist
  10. A book authored by a queer person

I've realised what a great resource this list has become, and I plan to add to it as time goes on. I'm also crossing off the ones I've completed as I go!
